The Lego Batman Movie

Story: There are big changes brewing in Gotham, but if Batman (Will Arnett) wants to save the city from the Joker's (Zach Galifianakis) hostile takeover, he may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up. Maybe his superhero sidekick Robin (Michael Cera) and loyal butler Alfred (Ralph Fiennes) can show him a thing or two.

The Lego Movie was a movie no one knew they needed or wanted. It was such an amazing hit, winning big at the box office and earning tons of cred. One huge aspect of the film was its many heroes, one being The Dark Knight played by the always hilarious/humble Will Arnet reprises his role for this spin-off, which isn't cheesy or lame in any shape or form. Just ask the man behind the mask, the (Bat) man.

The Lego Batman Movie is a spin-off of the highly acclaimed animated film The Lego Movie and follows the adventures of Batman as the future of Gotham City comes under threat when Joker's plan to blow up the city might actually work. It has a wonderful cast, ranging from returning stars Will Arnett as Batman, Channing Tatum as Superman and Jonah Hill as the Green Lantern and has Ralph Fiennes playing the role of Alfred Pennyworth, Rosario Dawson playing the role of Barbara Gordon, Michael Cera playing the part of Dick Grayson and the best being Zach Galifianakis playing the antagonist, Joker.

As far as the story goes, Batman is a loner and does not want or have any friends. He lives at home, alone and always seems to thwarght the bad guys. How you may ask? By singing. This part here is when one of the best moments in the movie and really lets Will Arnet shine, he is a good singer. Not everyone sings and thats okay. I big surprise for me though was finding out Maria Carrie was playing the mayor and she's not just good as in okay but she's good as in good good. Rosario Dawson plays the strong female lead as Barbara Gordon, she's the perfect Barbara Gordon that film goers have gotten. In this film Barbara takes over for her father Jim Gordon and scraps everything. Instead she seeks to throw the Joker and his gang of misfits in prison for good and wants Batman to resign from being a vigilante and work with the police for good.

Along the way he adopts Dick Grayson played whimsically well by Michael Cera and he eventually does build up a family that now he must save from all of cinemas most dangerous foes who were locked up with the joker. This aspect of the Lego Batman leads itself to being one of the most exciting family adventure films.

What is really surprising about this family film is how deep and emotional it can get. The dirctor and producers really dug deep here to find a new side to the bat. The side is fear, fear of loosing a family again. This connects so well with his origins and how it changed him into the hero he is, or villain. Arnet just nails it, every line is perfect and he is probably the best Batman since Christian Bale. Ben Affleck is good but hs yet to stretch his wings. Lego Batman really shows what Warner Bros can do with the material. It is an extremely fun night at the movies.

Batman is one of the greatest cinematic superheroes of our generation and to have a film made out of Lego come out and show us, the audience, a totally new side to the caped crusader, its by far the most amazing piece of cinematic film making you will ever get to watch. With a phenominal cast, a truly inspiring and touching story and a soundtrack that kicks things into high gear The Lego Batman Movie tops The Lego Movie in all ways possible and is by far the second best Batman movie of all time behind The Dark Knight.
